Outer housing is constructed of resilient chemical-resistant polypropylene to minimize damage from spills. The coiled heating element is suspended within a thermal insulating cartridge providing maximum heat transfer and support. Heating element is flexible ensuring a minimum risk of breakage. Insulating cartridge can be quickly and easily replaced. All 5L mantles feature an upper and lower heating element; the upper element can be switched on or off. A ‘Heater On’ light indicates heat is being supplied to the heater. An amber-colored ‘Power On’ light indicates when the power is turned on. Support rod holder accepts 1.27cm 1/2′ diameter support rods. Mantles feature a built-in temperature controller and grounding screen. Temperature controller regulates temperatures from ambient to 450 degrees C 840 degrees F .
